Jim Taiclet Joins Lockheed Martin as Our New President and CEO

On June 15, we welcomed Jim Taiclet as our new president and CEO. Jim succeeds Marillyn A. Hewson, who has served as chairman, president and CEO since 2014 and president and CEO since 2013.

An experienced chief executive, military veteran and pilot, Jim has a deep understanding of both our industry and our customers’ most critical missions. Lockheed Martin’s 110,000 employees are proud to work with him as we continue to solve complex challenges, advance scientific discovery and deliver innovative solutions to help our customers keep people safe.

Scroll down to learn more about Jim’s leadership style and earliest encounter with Lockheed Martin: flying a C-141B Starlifter for the USAF.

For the past couple of years serving on Lockheed Martin's board of directors, I've seen first-hand much of the incredible work across this corporation providing the tools for a strong national defense and advancing scientific progress. So when I was asked to become president and CEO, it was a call-to-service that I had to answer.
Jim Taiclet
Chairman, President & CEO
It’s about doing something important for the frontline men and women that have to defend us. They deserve the best equipment, the highest technology, something better than our adversaries are going to have. I joined Lockheed Martin because I am committed to doing that.

From military pilot to successful CEO

Jim Taiclet remembers well his first impressions of Lockheed Martin. As a young U.S. Air Force pilot, he flew the C-141B Starlifter, logging more than 5,000 flying hours in the aircraft.
