Chief Engineer and Senior Vice President, Engineering and Technology

 

Rod Makoske is the chief engineer and senior vice president, Engineering & Technology (E&T) for Lockheed Martin. As the corporation’s chief engineer, Makoske guides the overall technology strategy, oversees recruitment, retention and development of 60,000 engineering, science and technology professionals and leads Lockheed Martin’s 21st Century Security vision to deliver integrated mission-focused capabilities across all domains in support of national security.

His team is focused on technical excellence for customer mission success and includes Corporate Engineering, the Corporate Technology Office, and Special Programs. These responsibilities include coordination of the enterprise-wide research and development (R&D) budget and oversight of multiple corporate business pursuit teams.

Throughout his 35 years at Lockheed Martin, Makoske has held multiple leadership positions, including serving as vice president of Technical Operations for Lockheed Martin Systems Integration; vice president of Modernization, Sustainment and Advanced Programs for Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Sensors; vice president and group managing director for Lockheed Martin UK Integrated Systems and vice president of Engineering and Technology for Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training.

For his exceptional contributions to advance the performance and capability of aerospace systems, he is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

Makoske has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
