F-35s, Drones are Transforming American Airpower

F-35s are redefining what a fighter can do – this time with the help of Collaborative Combat Aircraft.

The F-35’s ability to collect and share information across the battlespace makes it a powerful force multiplier.

All of the Above

The world’s most advanced stealth fighter jet is designed to control drones, including the U.S. Air Force’s future fleet of Collaborative Combat Aircraft.

“What I’m excited about, honestly: take this aircraft and put a fleet of CCA that are capable of flying with it, executing missions off of it,” said Lt. Col. Philip Jackson. “That’s a pretty amazing capability.”

Future Focused

Lockheed Martin continues to work on new technologies that further enhance F-35 operations with drones – today and over the horizon.

Lockheed Martin and industry partners recently demonstrated end to end connectivity including command and control of a drone in flight utilizing the same hardware and software architectures that it has built for future F-35 flight testing. These architectures allow Lockheed Martin to not only prove out crewed-uncrewed teaming capabilities, but also incrementally develop and improve them, bringing the U.S. Air Force’s family of systems vision to life.
